Introduction

This project aims to deliver free educational support to orphans and underprivileged children aged 9 to 12 in Malaysia. Through interactive and engaging lessons in core subjects such as English, Math, and Science, we create positive learning experiences that help children grasp foundational concepts and restore their self-confidence in learning.
In addition to academic development, the project champions cultural exchange. While Malaysia is celebrated for its multicultural society, its vulnerable children seldom get the chance to connect with diverse cultural backgrounds. By sharing Hong Kong's unique culture in the classroom, we hope to expand their international horizons and spark a lifelong curiosity about the world. It is our sincere hope that this brief teaching service will achieve a sustainable impact beyond classroom walls—sowing seeds of hope that will help these children thrive and build a better tomorrow.

Reflection and Learning

Initially, some team members harbored latent anxieties regarding children from immigrant, refugee, and underprivileged backgrounds, anticipating formidable language barriers, cultural divides, behavioral challenges, or resistance to engagement. However, reality completely defied these apprehensions. The children eagerly reached out to us, using simple English and expressive gestures to share stories of their homelands, proudly displaying their drawings of Victoria Harbour, and enthusiastically teaching us 'thank you' in Malay. At the conclusion of the program, they swarmed around us to express their genuine gratitude. This pure, unconditional acceptance made us realize that prejudice is often rooted in the unknown. When we truly lower our stance to listen, those preconceived labels dissolve seamlessly into nothingness.
