Dr. CHENG Man-chuen

Dr. CHENG Man-chuen obtained his B.Sc. and M.Phil. in Mathematics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Stanford University. After graduation, he was awarded the Croucher Fellowship and undertook postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of British Columbia. His research interest lies in algebraic topology. Dr. Cheng is now a lecturer and the Associate Director of M.Sc. Program of the Department of Mathematics.

Dr. Cheng is enthusiastic about education. He received the Faculty Exemplary Teaching Award in 2022. Dr. Cheng worked with the Education Bureau to deliver training courses to secondary school Mathematics teachers. He previously served in the HKDSE Mathematics Subject Committee of Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority. 

Dr. Cheng is an alumnus of Shaw College and has been actively involved in college events since he was a student. He was a resident tutor of Kuo Mou Hall and a member of the Canteen Management Committee. Dr. Cheng is currently a member of the Assembly of Fellows and the President of the Shaw College Staff Association.
