It seems that there is misunderstanding and lack of support from society towards cancer children and recovering children. In this project, we hope to create joyful memories and share our love with the service targets. We think it is important to let our service targets know that they are never alone in the battle against cancer. Instead, they are being supported and encouraged. Moreover, through face-to-face communication, we hope our participants can have a bonding with our service targets and deepen their understanding on service targets’ needs and conditions.
Through this community service project, we have learned more about the service targets’ physical and
psychological needs, and were taught on how to build up relationship with cancer children and recovering
children in the briefing session.
Our interactions with service targets enhanced our understanding on their difficulties in daily life. It also
developed empathy in them and enabled us to put ourselves in their shoes. Not only has the discrimination and misunderstanding been eliminated, we were motivated to provide help and care for our service targets.
