As the pandemic eases, social welfare organizations have gradually resumed their services, but many social welfare organisations are only serving half the usual number of people. The recreational activities provided to help elderly carers maintain their emotional health are not enough.
To alleviate elderly carers' stress in caring for family members during the pandemic, we hope to assist carers in mastering a series of exercise routines through the "Easy Fit" project. This will help elderly carers maintain their emotional health and establish exercise habits at home, even amidst various epidemic prevention measures and caregiving pressures.
Although the team members have gone through internships in the social work department, our experience and insight in organising events are still not very rich, especially for face-to-face events which have been further restricted due to the pandemic. This event planning process is providing us with a valuable practical opportunity to plan activities that are suitable and appealing to the service users based on their needs. We also have the chance to practice skills in handling sudden changes, such as quickly adjusting activity details in response to participants' real-time feedback. It is hoped that this experience and insight can better equip us with the ability and confidence to incorporate social work elements through activities when we join the social work industry in the future, thereby embodying the spirit of people-oriented and helping others.
