Jasmine served as emcee in the Shaw College Graduation Ceremony

Jasmine chose to study at CUHK as she was impressed by its renowned and well-supported biomedical science programme and the closely-knit community. She heard that Shaw College was where the fun events were and was attracted by the robust atmosphere and fascinating people of the College, and therefore chose to join Shaw College.
At first, Jasmine thought that college life would be as demanding and tightly scheduled as compulsory house activities in secondary school. She was worried that she wouldn't be able to combine her academic study with her life outside of university. Nevertheless, she found that she could take part in events of Shaw College at her own pace and according to her interests. The flexibility allowed her to try different things without being stressed out, and created a good combination of academic and extracurricular activities, which she was grateful for.
Jasmine actively participated in college activities such as serving as the emcee of Shaw College Graduation Ceremonies 2022 and 2023 and Founder's Day Ceremony 2023. She was nervous and had stage fright at the beginning but then became more confident as she dealt with the unexpected events on stage and acted accordingly. Jasmine thought that through these opportunities, she could go beyond her limits and discover her hidden talents. At the 2023 Shaw Prize, a world-renowned event, Jasmine served as a student helper and thought it was a one-of-a-kind and critical chance that the College offered her. She was able to see the proceedings from the front row, and the exposure was of great help to her as it showed her a bit more of the academic world and strengthened her dreams.
Jasmine described Shaw College as a lively community with friendly atmosphere that promoted both academic and extracurricular excellence. The College also allowed students to have the opportunity to discover their interests at their own pace. There would be a great number of things one can do in the College for personal and professional development.
Talking about the expectation for the College, Jasmine hoped that the College could offer more chances and facilities to help students in their real lives, such as internships and exchange programmes with renowned universities, enabling students to get practical experiences and widen their horizons. Career services and mentorship programme could also guide students to plan efficiently their future paths. In addition, she expected better networking with alumni from different fields to advise current students. Increase in financial incentives and scholarships would definitely allow students to follow their interests and show their full potential with less financial pressure, greatly enhancing student experience.
